  • What does ‘all-expense paid’ mean, really?
For each retreat, the program will cover all reasonable costs related to ground transportation, air travel, accommodation, food & beverage, and select wellness & spa activities.
  • When does the program start and end?
The program begins on January 19th, 2024 with a virtual celebration. Our first retreat takes place in Carefree, Arizona from February 15-18, 2024. The program ends in May 2025, with our last retreat in April 2025. Program dates and locations will be confirmed within the first month of the program.
  • Do I have to attend every session? Will they be virtual or IRL?
The fellowship is designed for connection, so we ask that you commit to this with the expectation of attending most - if not all - of our sessions (with a contingency that allows three non-consecutive absences during the program). Each retreat will take place in person, with bimonthly check-ins happening virtually on Zoom.
  • Where are the retreats? What will we be doing?
Each of the three retreats will be held in the United States, with second & third locations/dates to be confirmed within the first month of the program. The first retreat will be in Carefree, Arizona at Civana Wellness Spa & Resort in February 2024. It will focus on self-care, self-exploration and individually-paced activities for wellness. The second retreat is tentatively scheduled for September 2024, and will emphasize rest, slowness and opportunities for collective dreaming, play and art. The final retreat is tentatively scheduled for April 2025, and will offer an opportunity for relationship weaving, celebration, and storytelling. We will also invite members of the program’s Advisory Committee to join us for this closing space and ritual.
  • Do I have to attend every retreat?
The fellowship is designed for connection, so we ask that you commit to this with the expectation of attending all of our retreats, in-person. If you have questions about attendance, access or COVID protocols, please let us know during alignment conversations and/or email them to Takia Nelson at tnelson@proinspire.org
  • How many people are expected to participate in the Fellowship?
The inaugural cohort of Fellows for a Liberated Future will feature 15-20 social sector leaders.
  • Will there be any required or recommended readings, or assignments?
Yes! Over the course of the 18 month program, we will read two books together: ‘Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto’ by Tricia Hersey ‘Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals’ by Alexis Pauline Gumbs ProInspire will mail you a copy of each book before the program begins. We will also share additional, optional resources to support your rest and self-determination, but these are the only two required readings.
