A Year of Rest as Resistance: Looking Back on Resilience Reset 2026
What if caring for ourselves is exactly how we build the world we’re fighting for?
That question has guided the Resilience Reset all year. It’s our free virtual series of guided rest sessions for changemakers, organizers, and everyone carrying the weight of movement work. Each gathering is a short pause from the inbox and the to-do list. It’s a chance to ground ourselves in community care and practice rest in real time, together.
This year we gathered six times, with six practitioners who each brought their own medicine to the space:
Maureen Miller (February 18) opened our year, returning after guiding us in 2025.
Michaela Ayers (April 15) welcomed us into spring.
Shaniece Thomas (June 17) carried us into summer.
Ashley Amerson of Dawns Healing Hands (August 19) led our late-summer session.
Jamica El, DJ afroDJiak (October 21) gave the series a joyful new rhythm.
Dr. Monea Abdul-Majeed (December 16) will close out the year.
Why rest, and why together?
Too often, those of us doing justice work are taught that caring for ourselves means stepping away from our people. The Resilience Reset rejects that idea. Tending to our own wholeness isn’t a retreat from the work. It’s part of how the work lasts. When we rest together, we model the liberated future we’re building.
Join us for our final reset of 2026
Before the year ends, give yourself one more pause. Dr. Monea Abdul-Majeed returns on Wednesday, December 16, at 2pm ET / 11am PT to guide our final virtual session of the year. It’s free and open to all.
Are you a rest practitioner, such as a body worker, therapist, coach, or somatic healer? We’d love to explore partnering with you in 2027. Email us at info@liberatedfuture.org.
